You received your interior project gallery...now what?
You’ve got photos that show the best of your work, so how can we now share that with others? Social Media can be a lot to chew in your day to day life when you are ALREADY pulled in so many directions. Figuring out what to post and what to say is the last thing on your mind. But, you know you have to try because that's the marketing world we live in now.
I have a passion for photography (as we all know), but the content creation side of my business is something I also really enjoy! Instagram is my main bread and butter by marketing on socials. I believe that our professional photos created together will help boost your own bussiness presence on your profile!
I am going to share with you 5 content ideas and 2 posting tips to help you jumpstart your Instagram game and actually use those photos you just paid for!
PORTFOLIO
Classic, static post of project highlights. Showing details and whole room shots of old and new projects.
EDUCATE
Take us into your brain and what knowledge you have. Show your audience why they should pick you!
CONNECT
Share your personlity with us, and even a peak behind the curtain at your day to day life.
Idea #1 - How many decisions are in this photo?
(EDUCATE)
You are going to show your audience just how much you actually do! Do your potential clients know that you plan for furniture sizing and spatial planning? Let them get a peek into all you do behind the scenes, on the other side of their inbox. Share all the ways you have your hand in their home project.
This can be done by:
- Overlaying text over a static professional image that lays out all the things you planned for in that one photo.
- In a video/reel by having the text pop up one after the other to fill the image.
The decisions can be specific to that photo, or just things you handle in general.
Idea #2 - Giving you a glimpse into my life as an interior designer in (city), Utah!
(CONNECT)
This type of post provides a chance for your followers to connect with you outside of your job. I personally think the more candid, the better! Let them see who you are when you aren't wearing your "professional" hat. Are you a mom who drives a car filled with kids snacks? Are you an empty nester answering emails from a coffee shop? Let them see YOU!
A few ways to do this:
- Posting a carousel with one photo per slide. It can alternate between a design/job photo, to then a personal life photo, and so on.
- Using a grid pattern to post 4-6 images of you in your work environment, and then using that same grid to then post your home life/hobby photos.
- Advanced Idea: Recording a day in the life video to really take your audience behind the scenes!
Bonus points if you talk about your specific location so Instagram knows the local people you want to reach!
Idea #3 - Client Inspo VS Final design.
(PORTFOLIO/EDUCATE)
I added this under 2 categories, just because your caption could determine how this content is shared. You can make it educational by going in depth of how the design process went, or you can use it to share more of your portfolio work. You decide :)
Posting can look like:
- 2- 3 images, with the first one being a rendering or of the sample table. The next images will be final result of the design come to life.
- Same sequence of ideas, but in video form for a reel.
Tip #1 - Consistency and Failure.
I have experimented with a lot of differnet types of content (and I'm still experimenting.) I've tried video segments, posting everyday, different hashtags, tagging, trial reels, collaborations, voiceovers....But the main things that have showed the "results" that I was looking for, was the consistency in trying!
I didn't post just one trial reel, I posted 100.
I didn't try one face-talking segment video, I tried 20.
Anyway, you get the point - Be creative and try it again and again. Don't let one "flop" determine if you move forward or not. You'd be surpised at how many of your followers don't see every single one of your posts. Don't be afraid to "fail" and keep going!
Idea #4 - Details i love in this (specific Room).
(PORTFOLIO)
During our interior photoshoot process, I will ask for communication on the types of photos you are wanting to see in your final gallery. If detail shots are important to you, then this content idea will be a fun one to use! You can pick any room to post about - Kitchen, Primary Suite, Laundry Room, etc.
How to execute:
- Gather 4-5 detail shots from a room in a recent project and use them in a carousel post. Overlay text can be used on the image to tell a little blurb about those details. (If not overlayed, then in the caption.)
- Tell us a tiny story about the kitchen faucet, the interior doorknobs, or the bathroom tile.
Idea #5 - (my favorite) Ways to add character to a home.
(EDUCATE/CONNECT)
Personal opinions create a brand voice, YOUR brand voice, and this content idea gives you the chance to do that. Share professional images from your gallery, or from your own home. This is a way to provide education through your own design opinions, while also letting your followers connect with you.
Let's post it by:
- Collecting images of any details that add charater - baseboards, wall paneling, wallpaper, throw pillows, cabinent woods, or finishes as a few examples, (from your own home, or from your professional gallery.)
- You can explain how it adds character in the caption or with text on the actual images itself.
Tip #2 - Evergreen vs Trendy content
This is something to keep in mind when coming up with ideas. These 5 ideas above are examples of Evergreen content. These can be posted anytime of the year, and will never lose value.
Trendy content are things that are time sensitive or align with current events. They won't always be relevant, but still have a use! Examples of this could be your favorite Parade of Homes house, your opinion on the new Pantone color of the year, or your opinion on a current design trend. Even creating a reel to a trending audio will not serve your profile 3 months after it's posted.
Your social media profile is about to get a major upgrade! I'm excited to see all you will do now with your professional interior images of your project. Let's start posting and attracting new clients. Let's show them what you're made of!
Send me your posts and I'll give it love!
